Cal Software's philosophy is to enable its customers to choose "best of breed" or "best for me" software. Financial software is central to this. As well as providing integration to Summit Accounts and the BASDA award winning accounting package Open Accounts, Compac Gold and Generation can be integrated to most accounting packages available in the market. The open design, inherent in our products also enables customers to keep their existing financial software if they so desire.
Any of the solutions selected come with a number of standard interface files, which mean that you can easily map the accounting requirements onto the business software. This extends to the ability to maintain many customer and supplier fields in either system, ensuring that both systems are using identical information, so avoiding duplication of data entry.
As well as standard address and terms of trade e.g. payment terms, accounting information such as balances and credit terms are exchanged to ensure accurate order credit checking. Nominal cross-reference tables within Compac Gold and Generation provide the ability to analyse both sales and purchase invoices down to product sub group if so required. This culminates in the ability for the software to integrate with any existing chart of accounts maintained in the individual customers business.
Integration to third party financial systems is completely under management control. Compac Gold and Generation can be operated from either this perspective and Open Accounts can via a background process, make the integration an automated process which can be carried out at regular intervals as determined by the system. In whatever mode the operation takes place the system can be triggered to print full audit reports for checking purposes.

With its "best of breed" functionality and "Best Corporate Accounting Software" award, it has established itself internationally as an accounts package, which is easy for organisations to understand, implement and use. It is supplied as a Windows presentation and integrates with both Compac Gold and Generation. With features to fully support the Euro and comprehensive management reporting it is worthy of its BASDA accreditation.
The Open Accounts package is a fully scaleable solution, which is supplied in a modular format and which handles large volume transaction processing. The software itself is written in the Progress 4GL and operates on Windows and UNIX platforms supporting a variety of database environments. Within its 15 modules there are facilities to parameterise the functionality considerably, to ensure the user has the individual desktop functions desired.
Its open system design gives it the same flexibility as that of Compac Gold and Generation packages from the viewpoint that it will interface to many industry standard 3rd party packages like word processors, e-mail, workflow and spreadsheets.
Comprehensive security features ensure that Management Information is supplied to designated users whose profiles enable them to drill down to source information, in both Open Accounts and the 3rd party system.

The package has been built to make it easy for the user to operate and understand, with design features which act as "building blocks" to give a consistent look and feel.
It is a true 4GL relational database product, which compliments both Compac Gold and Generation, running on most variants of UNIX and networks, plus the more significant proprietary PC and windows environments including Windows NT.
